Desert House was sketched by Don from similar buildings which he, as a career architect, had studied in the desert. Of his own invention and imagination, it was natural to place the subject matter high on a foundation wall; an important compositional concept giving a base for the dominate shape of the house, and relating it naturally to the environment.
