Guadelupe on the Hill

In the state of Chiapas, Mexico, high in the mountains, is the town of San Cristobal De las Casas,  not far from the Guatemala border.  It is made up of various indigenous peoples, who at one time were Maya in culture and religion, but who now mix their Christian and Maya faith, holding lavish festivals on the steps of this beautiful old church.  Known for a very long stairway leading from the town up to the towering church edifice.  Note the  lofty mountain tops rise majestically as they encircle the community.
