Lake Maggiore

Don was a very well traveled artist and this painting is from one of his favorite locations.  Lake Lake Maggiore is located on the Italian and Swiss border and is dotted with picturesque villages and settlements along the banks.  In Northern Italy, Lakes Como, Garda, and Iseo have an excitement about them as they lie within the low hills at the base of the mountains which rise majestically to the North.   The combination of water and land was of major interest to Don.
