Matilija Poppies in Blue Bowl II

Painting the Matilija poppies is my favorite theme for a floral still-life.  The challenges are many: an important one being the placement of the blooms and the distribution of hard and soft edges.  The rich, dark leaves give a certain brilliance to the blooms.
