Matilija Poppies in Blue Bowl

These white Matilija poppies had to be painted with a sensitive, intellectual approach.  The delicate translucent flowers appear as through they are made of crepe paper with subtle graduations of color.  The pattern of the arrangement shown, is to allow the most dominate flower to "read".  Gradually the other blooms take their place, to a lesser degree, supporting the composition.
