Through Cypress. At the Mendocino arts Center brought Don on occasion to paint along the headline cliffs. Granite cliffs constantly washed by incessant waves of waters which it moves south from it Aleutian Islands a few days before. The scene inspired him to paint what he saw it. Old bent cypress trees, it seems they never drop or lose their older branches which Don found so interesting as a family of shapes. This particular painting won the Elizabeth Callan Award from the American Watercolor Society in 2007. This painting was executed with a limited palate of just a few earth tones and blues.
